Lawmakers’ Report Card
Arkansas needs laws that put
PEOPLE over POLITICS
The 2021 Arkansas legislative session passed bills into laws harm us all, including:
🞇 Anyone who needs health care
🞇 Anyone who votes
🞇 African Americans and people of color
🞇 Arkansans who are transgender
What didn’t get passed?
■ Bills to grow jobs
■ Bills to grow incomes
■ COVID recovery legislation
Which new laws are on the report card?
This is how our legislators voted on a few things Arkansans care about:
Removing Covid Safety Protocols
Act 1002 bans public schools and local governments from requiring face masks for public safety. (A judge has temporarily stayed this law from going into effect.)
Make Voting Harder
Act 973 shortens the absentee ballot deadline by 4 days. Why are lawmakers trying to restrict YOUR right to vote?
“Stand Your Ground”
Act 250 makes it legal for a person to shoot someone, at home or elsewhere, if they feel threatened, rather than safely retreat.
Deny Health Care Rights
Act 626 interferes with the personal medical decision-making between a youth trans patient and their doctor.
